IMPORTANT: Always back up your data. ALWAYS. ChemRec™ has a built-in Backup & Restore procedure. Click on Company Settings and then BackUp. You may backup to: tape, CD, Floppy or Hard drive... just backup. Eventually all hardware fails and you will NEED your data.

IMPORTANT: Backup before downloading any service patches for any software. You may copy the data file to any media of your choice. The data file is called: Chmrc.mdb. You will be well-served to make a ChemRec Copy folder on your hard drive and do a "copy" of the Chmrc.mdb file from ChemRec program and then "paste" in the ChemRec Copy Folder on your hard drive. Do this on a regular basis.

HOW TO COPY AND BACKUP CHEMREC

Overview: No matter what program you are using it is MANDATORY to backup AND copy your data before attempting to install new files. A copy and a backup are different procedures. DO BOTH. Suggestions are given below. Al information is stored in one database called: ChmRc35.mdb (or ChmRc30.mdb depending on your version). After entering a small amount of data CHECK the restore procedure so you know everything is OK!!

COPY the ChemRec Data Files to Hard Drive.

You need a folder on C Drive named ChemRec Data (change folder name to whatever pleases you).

If you do not have such a folder and do not know now to make one, follow the directions below or go to step 2.

Double Click on: My Computer

  • Double Click on C Drive. All the directories in C will now show

Move cursor to the top left of screen to the File button (single click)

  • Click on word word which says: "NEW"

This will cause a new folder to appear on the desktop called: New Folder. The new folder is flashing so you may rename it. Type the word: ChemRecData and then click on any white space. You have finished step one.

Now you need to copy the ChmRc35.mdb data file into the ChemRecData folder you just created.

Double Click on: My Computer

  • Double Click on C
  • Double Click on ChemRec35
  • Single click (hilite) the file: ChmRc35.mdb

Move cursor to the top left of screen to the Edit button

  • Click on Edit
  • Click on Copy (make sure the ChmRc35.mdb file is still hilited).

You see nothing happening when you click "copy"..it just copies.

Now Click on the ChemRecData folder you made in step one (arrow down..it is at the very bottom of the list).
