STARTUP TIPS
- FILL OUT THE COMPANY INFORMATION COMPLETELY.
- FILL OUT THE RANCH INFORMATION. (These could be customers, geographical locations
or the same as the above company information)
- FILL OUT THE BLOCK/ FIELD/ CIRCLE INFORMATION. (Almost all states require Township,
Range & Section. Block/ field/ circles are generally the varieties of crops grown
within each ranch)
- FILL OUT SPRAY TYPES (Some have been pre-loaded so click delete for each one
not applicable to your type of farming and click "new" to add a new type.
Spray types allow you to later search for specific information)
- FILL OUT APPLICATOR INFORMATION. (You must have spray license number or use 9999999
until you find the correct number later)
- CHEMICAL INFORMATION. (Some are pre-loaded. Click "new" to add and
"delete" if you won't use. Make sure that costs are entered per UNIT i.e.
cost per oz if you put in ounces; cost per lb. if you put pounds in a tank)
- BACK UP THE INFORMATION on diskette, zip or tape. You now have a fresh/clean
starting place to return to after you enter "test" data.
- Click RETURN TO THE MAIN MENU
- Click NEW SPRAY RECORD (Keep in mind that a RECOMMENDATION does not require weather,
times or wind. BUT, to save or print as a RECORD this information must be entered)
- Click the arrow by the drop box on Spray Type and Select
- Click the arrow by the drop box on Ranch and Select
- Click on Block/Field/Circle; click blocks you wish to spray (click in sprayed?
column or check all). Click done
- Click on Applicator; select the applicator(s) you wish (can use several in one
block/field/circle)
- Click on Chemicals
- Cursor is flashing on gal/acre, enter correct data; move cursor to gallons/tank
and enter correct data
- Select (click) each chemical you wish to use.
- When all chemicals are selected, double click on each and choose the amount AND
the UNIT (drop box)
- Cost information is optional and may be added now or later. Click the circle
designating the way you want to enter the data: cost/acre, cost/unit or total cost.
Click close
- Click on Save as A Mix. You then name / identify it so it can easily be used
again. Click Done
- Pre Spray Comments is unlimited. Enter any information you wish to remind yourself
or your applicator. Ideas: tractor speed, rpm, nozzle info; emergency phone number;
who wrote the recipe; who sold the chemicals. Each state has a few different requirements,
which can be added here. Suggestion: Put standard comments in Word/Notepad and click
and paste between programs.
- Click Save
- Click Print and select the reports you want to print. Each report is shown on
the screen FIRST and then click on the printer icon at the top center of page to
print on a piece of paper.
- Note: Recommendation Report is to give to an applicator in the field. Time, temperature,
wind is written by applicator and returned to supervisor so this can be entered in
computer and a permanent record established.
- Print FOUR Worker Protection (Re Entry) Signs to post the four corners of your
block/field/circle.
- Click Exit.
- Click EXISTING RECORDS and then double click "search". Scroll down
and find the above recommendation and highlight and double click on it.
- Fill in the Wind, Temperature, Time (be sure to type am or pm and put ":"
between the numbers, as 9:00 am)
- Click Update, Click Exit, Click Close
CONGRATULATIONS....YOU HAVE FILLED OUT YOUR FIRST SPRAY RECORD.
IMPORTANT: Always back up your data. ALWAYS. ChemRec has a built-in
Backup & Restore procedure. Click on Company Settings and then BackUp. You may
backup to: tape, CD, Floppy or Hard drive... just backup. Eventually all hardware
fails and you will NEED your data.
IMPORTANT: Backup before downloading any service patches for any software. You
may copy the data file to any media of your choice. The data file is called: Chmrc.mdb.
You will be well-served to make a ChemRec Copy folder on your hard drive and do a
"copy" of the Chmrc.mdb file from ChemRec program and then "paste"
in the ChemRec Copy Folder on your hard drive. Do this on a regular basis.
HOW TO COPY AND BACKUP CHEMREC
Overview: No matter what program you are using it is MANDATORY to backup AND copy
your data before attempting to install new files. A copy and a backup are different
procedures. DO BOTH. Suggestions are given below. Al information is stored in one
database called: ChmRc35.mdb (or ChmRc30.mdb depending on your version). After entering
a small amount of data CHECK the restore procedure so you know everything is OK!!
COPY the ChemRec Data Files to Hard Drive.
You need a folder on C Drive named ChemRec Data (change folder name to whatever
pleases you).
If you do not have such a folder and do not know now to make one, follow the directions
below or go to step 2.
Double Click on: My Computer
- Double Click on C Drive. All the directories in C will now show
Move cursor to the top left of screen to the File button (single click)
- Click on word word which says: "NEW"
This will cause a new folder to appear on the desktop called: New Folder. The
new folder is flashing so you may rename it. Type the word: ChemRecData and then
click on any white space. You have finished step one.
Now you need to copy the ChmRc35.mdb data file into the ChemRecData folder you
just created.
Double Click on: My Computer
- Double Click on C
- Double Click on ChemRec35
- Single click (hilite) the file: ChmRc35.mdb
Move cursor to the top left of screen to the Edit button
- Click on Edit
- Click on Copy (make sure the ChmRc35.mdb file is still hilited).
You see nothing happening when you click "copy"..it just copies.
Now Click on the ChemRecData folder you made in step one (arrow down..it is at
the very bottom of the list).
